Visa announced this week a credit card that has a fingerprint reader, a new feature that is in the testing phase and works with both chip and technology contactless, with which you simply touch the card to the payment terminal.
As it is compatible with EMV payment technology, the Visa card is compatible with several card machines already used in commerce. The new card works by comparing a previous record of your fingerprint with what is read by the biometric sensor at the time of purchase, with lights that indicate whether the authentication worked or not, green for “yes” and red for “no”.
According to Visa, this technology offers robust security to credit card users and works as an alternative to passwords and signatures to authorize everyday transactions. This pilot program is carried out by Visa in partnership with banks Mountain America Credit Union and Bank of Cyprus, and is not yet available to Brazilian consumers.
