MEXICO CITY (apro).- The Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) announced that it has cut the amounts of the fiscal subsidy for the Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS) and the reduced rates for Magna gasoline and Diesel.
The tax adjustment was published this Friday by the SCHP in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF). The agreement disclosed the percentages and amounts, as well as the quantities per liter that will be applicable to these fuels in the period from Saturday, July 13 to Sunday, July 19 of this year.
The percentage of the fiscal stimulus to the IEPS for Magna gasoline was 15.30% and 9.31% for Diesel. This week, the subsidy will be 12.64% for Magna gasoline, equivalent to 0.7808 per liter, and 5.50% for Diesel, which is equivalent to 0.3732 per liter.
In the case of Premium gasoline, no support will be applied as in previous weeks, so customers who purchase this gasoline will have to pay 100% of the corresponding IEPS.
The applicable rates for Magna gasoline will be 5.3944 pesos per liter; for Premium gasoline, the rate will be 5.2146 pesos per liter and for Diesel, a rate of 6.4133 pesos will be applied.
The IEPS is an indirect tax applicable to the production, sale or import of specific goods and services, which means that taxpayers do not pay it directly, but rather collect it from their clients and only report it to the tax authority.
This tax is paid on the production and sale or import of gasoline, tobacco, beverages and high-calorie foods, since these products can have negative effects on people’s health or the environment.
