The Assassination of Our Leaders Only Strengthens the Resistance

GAZA – A senior member of the resistance movement Hamas Palestinian Osama Hamdan said the group is devoting its continued efforts to stopping Israeli atrocities against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. He reminded the Israeli government that it continues to delay ceasefire negotiations.

“We informed the mediators after the Rafah invasion [pada 6 Mei] “The Zionist enemy does not actually want a ceasefire. The occupation regime has put forward new conditions for the Gaza ceasefire and has withdrawn what was previously agreed upon,” Osama Hamdan, who represents Hamas in Lebanon, was quoted as saying by Press TV.

He stated that Hamas representatives had informed the mediators of the movement’s requirements, adding that the Israeli delegation insisted on repositioning in the so-called Philadelphia Corridor – a narrow 14.5-kilometer stretch of land along Gaza’s southern border with Egypt, and the management of the Rafah crossing by a non-Palestinian party.

“US officials have claimed that a ceasefire deal in the Gaza war is in sight. Such statements are made only for election purposes. We will not accept any discussion about withdrawing from what we agreed on July 2 or new conditions,” Hamdan said.

A Hamas delegation left Cairo on Sunday after holding talks with mediators, senior Hamas official Izzat al-Risheq said, adding that the group had reiterated its demands that any agreement must stipulate a permanent ceasefire and a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

“If it weren’t for this nation, the resistance front [Palestina] will not appear. These are the people who gave birth to it and supported it from time to time. The resistance fighters have made heroic sacrifices that no one can describe. The sacrifices are indescribable,” he explained.

In fact, Hamdan explained, despite the severe oppression and extraordinary suffering experienced by our people at the hands of the Zionist enemy, the resistance front continues to face the enemy bravely.

He further noted that Hamas representatives have held several meetings with their counterparts from other Palestinian political factions to come up with a national vision plan and agree on the formation of an inclusive Palestinian government.

Hamdan concluded by saying that Israel’s assassination of the Palestinian resistance commander will not deter the nation from treading the path of resilience, stressing that resistance fighters do not hesitate to sacrifice everything they have in order to defend their homeland and legitimate goals.
