Reading the Image of the Prabowo-Gibran Cabinet from the Presence of 2 Deputy Ministers from the Gerindra Party

JAKARTA – Two politicians Gerindra Party namely Thomas Djiwandono has been inaugurated as Deputy Minister of Finance (Wamenkeu) II and Sudaryono as Deputy Minister of Agriculture (Wamentan). Both are subordinates of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the possibility of the presence of 2 Wamen is a picture of the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka cabinet.

Executive Director of Indonesian Political Parameters (PPI) Adi Prayitno saw that the presence of Thomas and Sudaryono was indeed prepared by Prabowo. However, whether they remain as Deputy Ministers or Ministers is Prabowo’s prerogative as President-elect 2024-2029.

“So if today they are suddenly inaugurated as Deputy Ministers, of course the public will see this as an effort to facilitate the political transition from Jokowi to Prabowo,” he said, Friday (19/7/2024).

Adi assessed that there were some people close to Prabowo being prepared to fill strategic positions in the cabinet. The positions in question were in the food sector and budget posture which are the concerns of the future government.

According to him, both Thomas and Sudaryono have portfolios in their respective fields. Both are said to be being oriented to become cabinet members, including Deputy Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Yuliot despite his background as a bureaucrat.

“It seems that Prabowo and Jokowi have agreed on the closest people. Prabowo knows in detail about strategic issues regarding food, finance, economy plus investment. So it seems that Prabowo, who will be inaugurated on October 20, 2024, will go all out, especially in the investment sector, then finance, and thirdly in the food sector, security, and food self-sufficiency,” he said.
