The city of Riobamba, on March 8 of this year, became the scene of the event “Award Gala for the best Taekwondo athletes of the year 2023”, where Rafael Agurto Guzmán from Loja was designated best athlete and representation 2023 by the Ecuadorian Taekwondo Federation of the male gender in the children’s category, Kyorugui modality.
Among the nominations were the national and international participations, and the achievements obtained during the year 2023; among the most important are:
- Three-time Loja Provincial champion.
- National Student Champion, participated for the Antonio Peña Celi Educational Unit.
- National Champion.
- Pan American Champion National Team Ecuador.
- Champion of the Korean Ambassador Cup.
- Ecuador Series 1 Champion.
- Vice champion Ecuador series 2.
- Cuenca Open Champion
- Zamora Open Champion.
- Open champion without borders Loja.
In addition to this recognition, for his participation, in 2023, he obtained awards from the following sports institutions: - Best athlete Loja 2023, Circle of Loja sports journalists, who closely follow Rafael’s sports career.
- Absolute Champion and best athlete 2023 by the Carvallo club, the club where he trained.
- Best athlete 2023, Loja Provincial Taekwondo Association, ASO TKD LOJA, Loja National Team.
- Best athlete 2023, Provincial Sports Federation of Loja, FEDELOJA, being part of the 28 high-performance athletes from the province of Loja with sporting aspirations for 2024
With humility and charisma, characteristics of Rafael Agurto Guzmán, he received the award, motivating him to continue improving and aspiring to reach the World Cup and the Olympics. (D)
