Maduro warns of possible civil war if he does not win the elections on July 28

According to President Nicolás Maduro, the future of Venezuela depends on his victory in the upcoming elections on July 28.

In addition, Maria Corina Machadowho led the opposition, denounced that the regime is intensifying repression and persecution of government critics.

It should be remembered that the opposition presidential candidate is Edmundo Gonzáles Urrutia, backed by María Corina Machado, who won the opposition presidential primary but is disqualified from holding public office.

Maduro’s warnings

Six days before the elections in Venezuela, Maduro warned of a possible “bloodbath” if he does not continue governing from Miraflores Palace.

“The destiny of Venezuela in the 21st century depends on our victory on July 28. If they do not want Venezuela to fall into a bloodbath, into a fratricidal civil war produced by the fascists, let us guarantee the greatest success, the greatest victory in the electoral history of our people,” he said during a rally in La Vega, Caracas.

The warnings were made clear in a video posted on social media in which Maduro claims that his government has avoided a civil war.

“Because if we tell the people, the Armed Forces and the police forces to go out into the streets, then there will be a revolution like in the 20th century, popular and armed, it will be another revolution. It would be inevitable, if the fascist right comes to power, a popular and armed revolution would be inevitable,” he said.

Maduro’s government accuses the opposition of trying to repeat the protests of 2014 and 2017, which were repressed by security forces.

The situation in Venezuela remains tense as elections approach, with both sides bracing for a crucial outcome for the country’s future.
