Israel strikes West Bank cities

Several Palestinians were killed as a result of Israeli airstrikes on two cities in the northern West Bank, Liter.kz reports, citing Al Jazeera.

Media outlets previously reported that the IDF had launched a major counterterrorism operation in the West Bank cities of Jenin and Tulkarem, involving hundreds of troops.

“The IDF struck a refugee camp, causing heavy smoke in the area. Seven people were killed,” the source wrote.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territories said the number of Palestinian homes demolished by Israel in the West Bank has doubled since October 7, 2023.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Israel had agreed to withdraw its troops from the Gaza Strip as part of the agreement with Hamas.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly stated that Israel will not stop fighting in Gaza until Hamas is completely destroyed.

In early August, the United States announced that it was preparing to repel a possible Iranian attack on Israel.

It was later revealed that Israel plans to build a wall on the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt to prevent the Palestinian Hamas movement from building underground tunnels.

Lebanon recently attacked Israel with 55 rockets.

On the night of August 21-22, the Israeli Air Force carried out a series of strikes on targets associated with the terrorist organization Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

On August 28, it became known that negotiations between representatives of the Palestinian movement Hamas and Israel in Cairo ended without reaching an agreement on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
