Specifically, the HSA exam structure in 2025 consists of 3 parts, of which two compulsory parts are Mathematics and Data Processing, Literature – Language.

Mathematics and Data Processing Section consists of 50 questions, candidates will have 75 minutes to complete the test (with 35 questions in 4-choice multiple choice format, 15 fill-in-the-blank questions). The content is in the fields of algebra and some elements of analysis, geometry and measurement, statistics and probability.

Literature – Language Section consists of 50 multiple choice questions, candidates will complete the test in 60 minutes. The questions use materials related to many areas of life such as literature, language (vocabulary, grammar, communication activities, language development and language variations, writing), culture, society, history, geography, art.

Science or English sectioncandidates can choose one of the two with a time limit of 60 minutes. For the Science section, candidates can choose three out of five topics: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History and Geography. Each topic has 17 questions (including one test question). The English option consists of 50 multiple choice questions designed for admission to foreign language training programs.

The test score is calculated based on the total number of correct answers, and no points are deducted for incorrect answers. In the official test, the score achieved on the computer will appear after the candidate finishes the test. Candidates can use the sample test to familiarize themselves with the test format, review additional knowledge and skills, and practice time management when taking the official test in 2025.

The Hanoi National University Aptitude Test is one of the two largest private exams in the country. About 90 universities use this test score for admission.

In 2024, the Hanoi National University’s competency assessment exam will be held in 6 sessions, starting from March 23 to June 2 at 19 testing locations.

Statistics on the number of candidates in provinces and cities taking the exam in 2024 show that, except for Hanoi, Nam Dinh is the province with the largest number of registered candidates, followed by Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Hai Duong, Nghe An, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, etc.

The total number of registrations in 2024 was more than 104,000, of which 96.2% of candidates attended the exam and 21 candidates were disciplined for violating regulations.
