New Delhi (Viswas News). A photo of Rajya Sabha MP and former Congress President Sonia Gandhi is going viral on various social media platforms. In the viral photo, she can allegedly be seen smoking a cigarette. It is being claimed that this photo is from her youth.
Vishvas News in its investigation found this picture to be fake, which has been created with the help of AI. This picture has been created by changing the picture of a normal woman with the help of face swapping tool.

The user has sent this post to Vishwas News’ tipline number +91 9599299372 and requested to tell the truth of this. Many other people are also doing the same on different social media platforms. Users has shared this photo saying it is of Sonia Gandhi.

In the viral photo, Sonia Gandhi can allegedly be seen smoking a cigarette. There is no such photo of Sonia Gandhi available in public life, which raises doubts about its authenticity. Therefore, we checked it with the help of AI tools.
We checked this photo on hivemoderation.com, a tool that tests AI-generated images. The result of the test showed that the probability of this photo being created with the help of AI was 99.9 percent.
In the viral picture, the word remaker is written in the bottom left corner. In a Google search, we found that this remaker is actually an AI face swapping online app. Tools And on this website, we found many such pictures which have been created with the help of this tool and these pictures are similar to the viral picture.
In the search we found the original image on Tumblr.com Website id=’action_msg_1373’> Link) was found on the Twitter account of Sonia Gandhi, which was taken by Farjad Safdarjari in 2012. This same picture has been replaced with the picture of Sonia Gandhi with the help of the remaker tool. The difference between the two pictures can be clearly seen in the collage shown below.
We contacted Abhijeet Parashar, an expert working on AI and machine learning, regarding the viral photo. He confirmed, “Usually such photos are recreated with the help of tools like face swapping and if those photos have not been edited, then the watermark of the respective tool can be seen in the photos created with the help of such tools, as is seen in the viral photo of Sonia Gandhi.”
