The claim of Rahul Gandhi arriving late in the Parliament during the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha and his absence during the national anthem is fake. New Delhi (Viswas News). Amid the ongoing Parliament session, a video clip of parliamentary proceedings is going viral on social media with the claim that Rahul Gandhi was not present in Parliament during the national anthem and that he arrived there late.

Vishvas News in its investigation found this claim to be false. The viral video clip is from the beginning of the first session of the newly constituted 18th Lok Sabha, in which the claim of Rahul Gandhi arriving late in the Parliament is fake, as Rahul Gandhi was present in the Parliament during the national anthem.

What is viral?

Social media user ‘Deepak Kalappat’ created a viral post Video id=’action_msg_1373’> Link) को शेयर करते हुए लिखा है, “As usual the clown Rahul Gandhi was late and not present during the National Anthem. Just as “Jana Gana Mana” ended he entered the Parliament!”

Many other users on different social media platforms have shared this video with similar and identical claims.

The viral video clip is of the newly constituted parliament after the mandate of Lok Sabha elections 24, as the caption of the clip mentions the chair as Protem Speaker. The viral video clip is of 56 seconds, in which the Protem Speaker i.e. Acting Speaker Bhartruhari Mahtab can be seen on the chair and after the national anthem is over, Rahul Gandhi can be seen coming from near the chair towards his chair.

To know the truth of the claim made with the viral clip, it was necessary to see the original video. In a keyword search, we found a video of parliamentary proceedings related to this clip on the official YouTube channel of Sansad TV, which is from the morning proceedings of June 24 of the 18th Lok Sabha.

In the frame between 3.18 and 3.23 minutes of the video clip, it can be clearly seen that Rahul Gandhi is standing near the chairs in the last row. However, during the live telecast, his face is not visible due to the logo of Sansad TV. After this, when the national anthem ends, he walks from there towards his chair.

Several X users have also shared this video clip with the same claim, which has been refuted by Indian Youth Congress National President Srinivas BV from his official X handle.

Our investigation clearly shows that Rahul Gandhi was present in Parliament during the national anthem and he did not reach there late. We contacted Uttar Pradesh Congress spokesperson Abhimanyu Tyagi regarding the viral claim and he said, “This is propaganda. Rahul Gandhi was present when the national anthem started during the parliamentary proceedings.”
