WKÖ-Seeber: Tourism and leisure businesses make a significant contribution to Austria’s value creation and prosperity
Vienna (OTS) – Yesterday, the Austrian Export Prize was awarded to successful export companies in Vienna’s Hofburg. The gold, silver and bronze awards also recognized the above-average performance of Austrian tourism and leisure companies, which make a significant contribution to the export of services by looking after foreign guests. Revenue from foreign guests is an important pillar of Austria’s current account. Last year, it reached 23.1 billion euros, which was nominally around 13% higher than the level before the outbreak of the pandemic.
“Companies that take care of their guests every day and live Austrian hospitality with great commitment will be given a spotlight at the export award,” says Federal Sector Chairman Robert Seeber (WKÖ) visibly pleased.
In the “Tourism and Leisure Industry” category, Imlauer Hotel & Restaurant Ges.mbH was awarded gold. Silver went to Wiener Privatklinik Betriebs-GmbH & Co KG and bronze to Mondial GmbH & Co KG from Vienna.
With a lot of commitment, courage and investment risk, Imlauer Hotel & Restaurant Ges.mbH was able to grow from a small tourism business into a market leader and internationally known hotel brand with locations in Salzburg, Vienna and Styria. With a share of 72% foreign guests, a new record was set in 2023. The guests come mainly from Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain, but also from the USA and the Arab world. The award was presented to company owner Georg Imlauer and his son Prok. Thomas Imlauer.
On behalf of Wiener Privatklinik Betriebs-GmbH & Co KG (WPK), the award was accepted by the management team of Claudia Cecconi and Thomas Ebm. The company offers personalized medicine with tailor-made service in order to meet the increasing international demand. Wiener Privatklinik records patient flows from markets such as Germany, Ukraine, Romania and the United Arab Emirates. Impressive growth is also evident in new markets such as Georgia, Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia.
Mondial GmbH & Co KG is one of the largest family-run full-service tourism companies in Austria. The incoming guests or guest groups and the conference participants mainly come from abroad, such as the USA, Asia or the Arab world. In the tour operator sector, many guests travel from Germany and Austria. The award was presented to Managing Director Gregor Kadanka and Marketing Manager Kathrin Hoffmann.
Robert Seeber warmly congratulates the three award winners and sees the export award as an important event to appropriately recognize the impressive achievements of the tourism and leisure industry: “Our companies make a significant contribution to value creation and make a major contribution to prosperity in Austria,” the industry representative concluded.
