In the ORF night talk “Stöckl” on 4 July at 11:05 p.m. on ORF 2 and on ORF ON

Vienna (OTS) – In the current edition of the ORF night talk show “Stöckl” on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at 11:05 p.m. on ORF 2 and on ORF ON, ORF television legend Günter Tolar, musical star Maya Hakvoort, historian Johann-Philipp Spiegelfeld and entomologist Dominique Zimmermann will be guests of Barbara Stöckl:

Günter Tolar is considered an Austrian television legend. The former presenter, who celebrates his 85th birthday on July 9, shaped the ORF’s entertainment program with shows such as “Tohuwabohu”, “Wer 3 x lügt” and “Made in Austria”. For this he was recently awarded the Golden Decoration of Honour of the Republic. His coming out more than 30 years ago as the first celebrity in Austria also made him an icon of the gay movement. He talks about how he looks back on it and about the lessons he has learned from getting older in a personal conversation with Barbara Stöckl.

Musical star Maya Hakvoort is honoring the great music icon Barbra Streisand with her new program “Maya Hakvoort in Concert – Honoring Barbra Streisand”. In addition to other engagements, the Dutch-born singer, who once came to Vienna to play the role of Empress Elisabeth in the musical of the same name, will be back on stage in China in the fall as “Lady M”: “It’s a completely different culture, but that’s good because the exchange with my Chinese colleagues broadens my horizons.” She tells the night talk show “Stöckl” how she came to be engaged in Shanghai.

From the end of July, historian and airline pilot Johann-Philipp Spiegelfeld will be visiting castle owners in their castle walls in his series “Herrschaftszeiten!” (Herrschaftszeiten!) every Tuesday at 9:05 p.m. on ORF 2. The book of the same name accompanying the series was published in the spring and provides insights into the historical background and the exciting life in castles and palaces. Since the beginning of the year, Spiegelfeld has also been working as a volunteer commander of the Malteser Hospital Service Austria – in this role he has helped to organize a pilgrimage to Lourdes for 200 people, among other things.

“Insects are actually destroying our ecosystem,” says Dominique Zimmermann, a biologist at the Natural History Museum who knows how fascinating annoying wasps and bloodthirsty mosquitoes are, especially in summer. In her book “Insect Whispers,” she also looks at the biodiversity that surrounds us and also takes a look at the importance of insects for the survival of humanity.
