The jury recommends an extension of the tender.
Vienna (OTS) – In February 2024, the position of artistic director for Tanzquartier-Wien GmbH (TQW) was advertised. By the end of the application deadline on April 2, 2024, 28 complete applications for the artistic directorship had been received, including 23 individual and 5 team applications. 6 applications were from Austria, 22 applications were international.
After a thorough examination of the concepts and subsequent hearings by a jury of experts, the jury presented its recommendation to the City Councillor for Culture: The candidate and the second-ranked candidate each withdrew their applications for personal reasons after negotiations had been concluded.
The jury therefore recommends extending the advertisement or application deadline for the position until August 31, 2024.
City Councillor Veronica Kaup-Hasler trusts the process and follows the jury’s recommendation: “As part of a comprehensive and complex process, the jury made a personnel recommendation for the artistic directorship. I followed these recommendations. It is regrettable that the candidates had to withdraw their applications for personal reasons at the last moment before the announcement. I would like to thank the jury for their work and know that appointment procedures are very time-consuming and complex. I am looking for the best possible management for the Tanzquartier Wien, so I am following the jury’s vote to extend the call for applications over the summer.”
Die Jury
The jury consists of the experts Inge Gappmaier, Anne Juren, Bettina Masuch, Anna Mülter and Sandra Umathum as well as Arne Forke (Office of the City Councillor for Culture and Science) and Eva Kohout (Cultural Department of the City of Vienna). The process is accompanied by the personnel consultant Yvonne Bernard.
Tanzquartier-Wien GmbH (TQW)
Since its founding in 2001, Tanzquartier-Wien GmbH has been an institution with international appeal focused on dance and performance. The aim and task of the TQW is to present productions in a venue with up to 300 seats, to temporarily program a venue with around 900 seats and to operate studios all year round in 3 studios. In addition, activities in the areas of theory, research, mediation and training are the responsibility of the artistic director. The TQW is intended to be a networked and networking place that is open to the city’s society as well as to the independent scene and is in dialogue with them.
Tender
We are looking for team-oriented individuals with extensive knowledge of the national and international dance and performance scene and its discourse on current choreographic formats. The new artistic director should have an excellent network in the scene as well as artistic and organizational management skills.
