Storm Isha will rage over the north of our country from Sunday night to Monday. The peak is expected during rush hour on Monday morning, with lots of rain, strong winds and risk of storm damage.
On Sunday afternoon the sea will blow from strong to strong (wind force 6-7), with possible strong wind gusts of up to 75 kilometers per hour, Weeronline reports. Inland the wind is quite strong, with force 5.
In the evening and at night the wind strengthens further. Storm Isha is expected to peak during the Monday morning rush hour. Due to rain, strong winds and the risk of storm damage, rush hour is likely to be very busy.
Officially, thunderstorms will probably only occur in the Wadden area and in the north of North Holland, with wind force 9 and gusts between 90 and 110 kilometers per hour.
In other coastal areas and on the IJsselmeer the winds will be strong to stormy with force 7 or 8 and gusts between 80 and 100 kilometers per hour. Inland, strong wind gusts of 75 to 85 kilometers per hour may occur.
These strong wind gusts can cause storm damage.
Code yellow both Sunday and Monday
On Sundays, code yellow is in effect from 7:00 to midnight in the north and west of the country (not in the provinces of Utrecht, Gelderland, North Brabant and Limburg). In the morning there is a possibility that the weather will be slippery and then the weather warning will be triggered due to the risk of strong gusts of wind, KNMI reports.
On Monday, the yellow code will be in force throughout the national territory from 00:00 to 09:00. Storm Isha crossed the north of the Netherlands on Monday morning and the wind gradually decreased in strength.
